Spoleto, Italy: Camera Pinta Frescos (Romance of Chivalry).
Spoleto, Italy: Camera Pinta Frescos (Romance of Chivalry).
Another gem found in Spoleto, Italy are some wonderful frescos within the majestic Rocca Albornoziana fortress,  built in 1359–1370 by the architect Matteo Gattapone of Gubbio for Cardinal Albornoz.   It has six sturdy towers which formed two distinct inner spaces: the Cortile delle Armi, for the troops, and the Cortile d'onore for the use of the city's governor.
The rooms include the Camera Pinta ("Painted Room")
with wonderful 15th‑century frescoes.
On the walls of the bedroom scenes of courtly love
and scenes of delights of fishing, hunting, gathering fruit, bathing and games intertwine;
on the walls of the small study, stories are told of ladies and knights
set against castles and walled cities,
which seem to follow precisely the plot of a romance of chivalry.
Enjoy !!!
