Umberto Boccioni
RELAX with ARTIST Umberto Boccioni
Umberto Boccioni's painting captured me as I strolled past,...
I had to loop back to consider what I had glanced... and you must understand my moments in seconds and minutes in Roma at any museum is a precious and rare commodity ~ anything that lures me back, and causes any pause in my pace is typically worthy of the pause ~ and often I'm not sure what is luring me back ~ even which piece of work in the corridor. But this painting drew me back for the form and the colors... and some hidden nuances when viewed in-person...
the work has a pigment and style that reminds me of another artists work in a private gallery. I prefer the colors in my 2019 quick exposure (even though it is a low resolution)... it captures some of the layering and flow of pigment I am most interested...

ARTIST : Umberto Boccioni
"Cavallo + Cavaliere + Caseggiato"
cm. 10,2 x 13
Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Viale delle Belle Arti, 131, Roma (RM)
- Sala espositiva - Sala 22 Avanguardie, inv. 4604 (1950)
an autographed painting by Umberto Boccioni made with oil on canvas technique
early 1914 in Roma.
In this period Boccioni's orientations, although following a firm direction,
undergo changes regarding the motions and the decompositions.
In this small painting, however, there is also a certain recovery of the
luminous post-impressionistic chromaticism that brings it very close to Cézanne ,
especially in the landscape elements present in the background (top right),
despite the definition of clear Cubist synthesis .
There are some expressionistic hints in the work that had been dormant for some time in the artist.
